MASS FOR CATHOLIC PHYSICIANS AND OTHER HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS
Rev. James Gould, Chaplain of the Northern Virginia Guild of the Catholic Medical Association celebrated our annual Mass on October 17, 2020 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Annandale. Given concerns for Covid-19, social distancing was practiced throughout.
Fr. Gould’s homily highlighted concrete situations that reflect not only our calling to practice medicine, but also our higher calling to emulate the Divine Healer as we practice our profession. He gave concrete examples and noted that opportunities to emulate Christ present themselves when we least expect them. Nevertheless, we are called to act according to our faith in the perspective of charity whenever the opportunity presents… be it convenient or inconvenient.
An informal social gathering after Mass gave us a chance to visit and re-connect with each other. As we all know only too well, this is a rare opportunity in these challenging times.
